Day Safari at Botlierskop
We like the overnight option at Botlierskop. But if there is no time or budget for this, the day safari is a happy second prize. It runs in the morning around 10am and can be easily included in your trip back to Cape Town from the Garden Route. The two-hour game drive takes in the rolling hills of the game reserve and, with luck, you will get a good view of the big Five!
Adventure tour Cango Caves
Our itineraries usually include the 1 hour standard Caves tour. But if you are feeling adventurous and don’t suffer from claustrophobia, you might want to consider the adventure option (1.5 hours) that includes navigating the devil’s chimney. PG is a big boy at 102kgs, and he squeezed through, so so can you…
Wilderness Kayak
Kayak, hike and marvel at a piece of wilderness magic that culminates in a secluded waterfall. The locals don’t like us to tell our guests about this hidden gem, which remains one of the best-kept secrets on the Garden Route.
Nature's Valley Hike
Another off the beaten track spot. It is a 1.5 – 2 hour return hike – but might take you longer, if you choose to pretend you’ve just ended up at Leo Di Caprio’s “beach” once you reach the Sand River mouth. A special, secluded spot well worth visiting. You need a level of fitness though.
Robberg Peninsula Hike
There are three loops of varying difficulty to enjoy the peninsula close to Plettenberg Bay. PG loves this hike, it is beautifully uncrowded and you definitely will feel like you are “out there”. Requires 30min-3 hours depending on which option you take.
Mountain biking on the Garden Route
We can arrange biking in the Harkerville forest between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. These forest trails are beloved by local punters and offer a great way to enjoy the tranquillity of the area.
Shark Cage Diving (Gansbaai or Mossel Bay)
We recommend you do this on your way back from Knysna to Cape Town. Easily fits into our 4-day return schedule to be done on the way back in Mossel Bay. Or it can be done in Gansbaai on the way up, slots in well with our Southern Tip one-way option.
Whale Watching (Plettenberg Bay)
Southern Rights frolick here in season. Less famous than Hermanus, this area actually has a larger concentration of whales.
SUP or Kiteboarding lessons Sedgefield
We like to tie in with our friends at Pili Pili surf shop at Sedgefield for some awesome water action. Recommend we look at this if you have more time on your hands in the area, and maybe we book you in right on the beach at Afrovibe guest house.
